In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, host Gin Stephens speaks to Star McEuen from Pima, AZ. Star is a massage therapist, manages a fulfillment center for a local business, and is busy mom of six! She was very active for many years leading up to IF, as a certified Zumba instructor and through CrossFit.
Between 2012-2014, Star was the healthiest she had ever been. In 2015, they built a home. And then in 2016, they experienced devastating family trials which forced her to go on antidepressants. She stopped doing her daily 3-4 hour workouts, and felt miserable. Star shared that gained a lot of weight during this time, and desperately tried to get back to working out. In July 2019, a friend received a text from a friend who had been doing OMAD (One Meal A Day) and told Star about Delay, Don’t Deny. She immediately downloaded the book, read it, and began IF in August 2019. Star said she “never really liked breakfast anyway,” and says she feels “alive again.” Star has last a total of 50 pounds and 24 inches.
The advice Star would give new IFers: “Take pictures and measurements, and then tuck them away. Pay attention to the Non-Scale Victories. Find moderation in everything.”
